Barbara Walters Was Wa Wa for Obama

Recent interview of the woman America has depended on for unbiased news, former news anchor, Barbara Walters (via NewsBusters):

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?

BARBARA WALTERS: Well, you’ve touched on it to a degree. He made so many promises. We thought that he was going to be – I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime, but – the next messiah.

And responses from our team:

Charles Krauthammer: Five years to realize the man isn’t a messiah? I think it took some of us – [Looking at co-host Bob Beckel] well, almost all of us – about, you know, an hour and a half to realize that he gives a good speech, but he’s shown no aptitude at governing.

Douglas MacKinnon:   First, who is the “we” she is referencing? That would be the other ultra-wealthy liberals from Hollywood, the media, entertainment, the new social-media billionaires and most tenured and unionized academia who have deluded themselves into believing this to be the case.

From their insular bubble of privilege where they are sealed off from the vast majority of their fellow citizens, they turned the unquestioned worship of Obama into a new theology. Once that virtual house of worship was created, they believed Obama could and would do no wrong.

Unfortunately for them, they made this assumption from a platform of pure ignorance coupled with a complete lack of intellectual curiosity. Even now, five years into his presidency, Walters — like the rest of us — knows next to nothing about Obama.

Rush Limbaugh:   “This is how the left promoted Obama. It’s how he promoted himself, and it’s how a lot of voters saw him,”

“Believe me, she’s a believer. She’s not mocking or laughing at this. … Who in their right mind would put this much on any politician?”  he’s not uncommon here … among people in the media. It’s all rooted in race and sympathy. It’s all related to surface things. … It was all blind faith.”
