The Holmes Report

Beware when traveling abroad . . . your country no longer has your back

I’ve traveled abroad rather extensively at times, over the years. There is always a danger that, when in a foreign country, one can run afoul of its laws, which, in some instances, may regard actions as criminal offenses which may be perfectly legal in the US.

Always aware of this and respectful of a nation’s unique laws, I knew that it was possible to inadvertently find myself in a legal problem. One thing I was always confident of, however, was that if that should happen, my government would have my back and would work vigorously on my behalf to resolve the problem and insure that my rights and well-being were defended. Even when traveling in Communist countries or nations governed by dictators, I had that assurance.

Today, with the government we have in Washington, I would not travel abroad with that confidence. One needs only to be aware of the facts as reported in the tragic case of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, now having been held in a Mexican prison since late March for an unintentional violation of a Mexican law which citizens of that country violate in our nation every day. And our President? Either because he is respected by no other world leader or nation, third world or any other, or because he is indifferent to anything about America other than his own personal whims and wants, has done nothing publicly, nor privately most likely, on behalf of Sgt. Tahmoorissi.

Or, is it that this is just another way by which Barack Obama can express his obvious contempt for the USA which he seeks to “fundamentally transform”. Recall the haste in which, acknowledging he “didn’t know the facts”, determined that the New Haven Police “acted stupidly” when his buddy got in trouble. Where’s his assessment of this situation?

Mayor Gluba basically tells Sgt Tahmooressi to pound sand

According to a report from a faithful reader, heard on the Jim Fisher WOC Talk Radio program this afternoon, a Davenport Alderman phoned in to report about a meeting regarding any role for Davenport in providing for the “children” presenting themselves at the US border with Mexico.  During the meeting Mayor Gluba mentioned he would be in contact with the White House later about what parameters of aid would be useful. The Alderman used the opportunity to request that Gluba, while he was talking to the “White House”  induce them to finally make a phone call and arrange the release of Sgt Tahmooressi.  Gluba erupted that he didn’t care about Sgt Tahmooressi.  We will verify the Alderman involved and any other recollections.

Who Is In Charge?

Why doesn’t President Jarrett address the American people? Having her stooge stand up as our country’s chief executive diminishes the office…if that’s possible any longer under this circus act America has been subjected to since 2008.

Cheri Jacobus writing at Newsbusters reports, —  ABC’s Jon Karl Wonders: Who’s In Charge of Obama’s White House?

ABC’s Jonathan Karl on Tuesday asked White House press secretary why the letter from the White House to Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) inviting him to a meeting with President Obama regarding the Texas border crisis was from Valerie Jarrett.  While it’s routine for staff to draft such letters for elected officials, matters of such magnitude and to other elected officials of stature are almost always in the name of the principle.  The president’s spokesman, when asked why the letter was from Jarrett rather than the President, said  “Valerie spends a lot of time maintaining relationships with governors around the country” on behalf of the President.

Jacobus goes on to report about the question of who writes the President’s “tweets:”
Answer: — It isn’t the President and it isn’t even an administration official!

  1. Thomas Nelson says:

“I don’t care about that” … If I recall, this was the exact sentence that cost Ill State Congressman Phil Hare his seat.
