From Rick Moran writing at American Thinker: Biden announces US will grant refugee status to migrant children
At a conference in Central America, Vice President Joe Biden announced that the US would offer refugee status to some migrant children from Honduras, El Salvadore, and Guatemala.
Moran’s commentary is based on this AP story regarding the Biden announcement. To say the least the conditions are such (alleged as restrictions) that one could drive trucks through the loopholes (full of refugee claimants). The AP story recites the response of “House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, referring to the action as :
“government-sanctioned border surge” if Obama acts as expected . . .” “The policy announced today could open Pandora’s box, allowing potentially even more people to come to the United States. This is bad policy and undermines the integrity of our immigration system…”
Wow. “…undermines the integrity of our immigration system”??!! Got news for you, Congressman. That ship sailed a long time ago. Rather than asserting such edicts as being destructive of the Constitution and legislative authorities, we are told it is “bad policy” that “could” open a Pandora’s box. Be still our hearts at such inspired description. A more withering response from the GOP would be “We got feck,” We’re feckful” We here at Veritas think we are fecked alright. Moran goes on to comment:
“What distinction do you think those desperately poor people are going to make between who gets refugee status and who doesn’t? All they know is if they show up at the border, there’s a good chance they won’t be sent back.
“If anything, this will almost certainly increase the number of kids at risk. Those who are turned down for refugee status in their home countries, will make the dangerous trip to the US anyway. No doubt they’ve heard stories about their friends and family being released after surrendering at the border, and being transported to places where they get free housing, free schooling and free medical care.
The left’s usual retort to such an analysis wasn’t yet available, but we can recite it from memory for them: “Don’t you care about the children, you heartless, racist teabaggers?”
(Note: It wasn’t reported whether Mr. Biden was joined by Jonathon Gruber to help with the messaging.)
And what will be the GOP response? As it stands now they might sue. Everything else is off the table . . . “shutting down government” “impeachment.” In the meantime the acts and results are allowed to happen, fait accompli. DLH with R Mall
