Where’s O’Reilly ‘s Rage Against Evil Oil And Speculators Lately?

Remember Bill O’Reilly…he’s lookin’ out for you.

Screen shot 2014-12-12 at 11.24.04 AMRecall when gasoline prices were going through the roof? Price of oil was well over $100/barrel and heading toward $150. Night after night,  regardless of whomever his guest might be or how persuasive his/her arguments attributing the soaring prices to market forces, good ol’ Bill would furiously rail against the evil speculators and big oil companies.

Bill was having none of that “supply and demand” stuff!

I’ve noticed that Bill hasn’t addressed gasoline prices or the price of oil lately…as they head downward toward $2.20/gal. and $50/ barrel.

What the hell, Bill!? Are those evil speculators asleep at the wheel? And “Big Oil”, why aren’t they fixing those prices higher?

Don’t think we’ll be hearing O’Reilly holding forth on this subject for awhile.

As Media research Center reports:

Oil and Gas Prices Drop, But Nets Refuse to Credit Fracking in 93% of Stories

Despite the networks’ acknowledgement of falling oil and gas prices, the evening news shows almost completely avoided giving any credit to fracking for the dramatic drop. More than 93 percent (29 of 31) of ABC, CBS and NBC evening show stories and news briefs about oil and gas ignored fracking. More than 77 percent (24 of 31) of those stories between Sept. 29, and Dec. 8, even failed to mention domestic oil production increases.

Thanks in great part to fracking, by the way, we are now under the 1984 average price per gallon of gasoline (adjusted for inflation).  In 1984 the average price per gallon of gas was $1.21. That would be $2.77 today. I just saw $2.39 advertised at a Casey’s.
