Deadly silence from Vatican

Judi McLeod writing at The Canadian Free press nails it.

God, protect our babies from both president and pope

The pope will meet with Obama on Sept, 23 as part of his first trip to America as the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

“According to a White House statement released Thursday, the two leaders will discuss “their shared values” on issues such as “caring for the marginalized and poor,” the economy, the environment, religious freedom, and immigration. The two are scheduled to meet Sept. 23, the day before the pope’s unprecedented address to a joint session of Congress.” (CruxNow, March 26, 2015)

Will the pontiff and president talk about the continuing sale of aborted baby parts by government funded Planned Parenthood?

It’s not on the agenda. . . .

For its part, the Vatican, piously pushing the ‘Thou shalt be good stewards of the environment’ angle, remains mum about the sale of baby parts on the open market by Planned Parenthood.

Perception is everything and Francis, by his official visit, is paying homage to the world’s most infamous champion of partial birth abortion.

Believe it or not the Catholic Church is undergoing a major shift in what it stands for. It didn’t just start with Pope Francis, but he has advanced it by quantum leaps.

Perhaps the greatest impetus behind this ground-shaking change is Catholic higher education, the Catholic left movement, and a general cozying up to America’s “progressive” politicians by the US bishops.

The widening scope and growing depth of the change can be traced to two major developments in the last 7 years. The first is the election of Barack Obama. The other is the unexpected (and unexplained) retirement of moderate/conservative Pope Benedict followed by the elevation of Latin American Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio to the Papacy.

Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, quickly proved to be perhaps the most left leaning Pope in modern times. Coming from Argentina with a background greatly influenced by the corruption in Latin American governments, the extreme poverty of those of his ministry in those countries, and of the ideology of global progressivism. He has seemed to quickly develop an affinity for much of President Obama’s ideological leanings and appears to be very comfortable in his interactions with leftist dictators, including the Castros and Bolivia’s Evo Morales. He has given renewed recognition and respect to the “liberation theology” movement which previous Popes have denounced because of its Marxist underpinnings.

As he has developed and promoted his redistribution of wealth agenda, thinly disguised as concern over “climate change” and “Mother Earth”, Pope Francis has relegated the Church’s position on abortion and gay marriage as something the faithful should not “obsess” about.

Catholic higher education for some time has been little to nothing about “Catholic” education. With Obama coming to power, the Catholic universities have pretty much dropped all pretense of what they had represented themselves to be about. Early on we saw Notre Dame invite the most committed pro-abortionist president in history to speak at its 2009 commencement but went further in conferring unusual recognition, in the form of an honorary degree for President Obama.

Georgetown University, another renowned Catholic institution gained prominence when one of its law school students, Sandra Fluke slandered her fellow female law school students by proclaiming that, for 40% of the class, their contraception costs were as much as $3000 per year. The University’s president, instead of challenging the allegation of his students’ promiscuity, praised Ms. Fluke’s “courage” in exercising her free speech rights.

Marquette University, more recently, allowed prominent campus display of a mural depicting a convicted fugitive cop killer, who has for 40 years enjoyed “sanctuary” in Cuba.

Then there is Sacred University which honored pro-abortion activist, Kerry Kennedy. Or the Xavier U. commencement, which honored pro-abortion political strategist Donna Brazile. University of San Francisco honored Kamala Harris, now California Attorney General, totally pro-abortion, and opponent of anti-gay marriage Proposition 8.

Boston College, another “respected” Catholic University, had John Kerry address its commencement in 2004 and receive an honorary law degree despite his well-known views on support of abortion and gay marriage.

Of course, here in the QC, Pacem in Terris is representative of the ideas and aims of the Catholic left, of which St. Ambrose University seems to have no problem with. It has bestowed honors on Saul Alinsky and someone known as Father John Dear, ant-war activist whose principle accomplishments to merit the honor were his numerous arrests for involvement in protest which included destruction of military property. Last year it honored one of the “Nuns on a Bus” who enthusiastically promoted Obamacare and has had no known opposition to its infringements on “freedom of Religion”. It has also honored former Iowa Republican state senator Maggie Tinsman, well-known for her active support of Planned Parenthood and its agenda.

And on it goes.   More reading about Catholic education institutions honoring notorious pro-abortion personages is available at the Cardinal Newman Society.
