A-D has no problem uncritically promulgating a warped view of society
The QCT editorial board is simply a shill for the abortion industry, defending the most grotesque of practices. It has ever identified a prenatal homicide it would not justify as a woman’s right — not late term abortion, not sex selection abortion.
In conversation, if not in these pages ,we have remarked that the Argus-Dispatch (A-D) is somewhat better than the Quad City Times (QCT) in terms of story coverage and editorial page fairness to conservatives. After decades of subscribing to the QCT a number of years ago we dropped our subscription although we monitor it online when the mood or a referral strikes us. We subscribe currently to the A-D. Given other online resources, its Iowa coverage is adequate.
The two local newspapers are fairly close in terms of national coverage because both primarily rely on the Associated Press (AP) for their news feeds. Thus the AP decides what is news, providing the menu, and how it will be presented. We would guess AP sources to be maybe 60 % of the game for each. Of course each newspaper can run with their instincts as to what to select from the AP menu to print.
The A-D’s glaring offense today was selecting to run quite prominently an article advertising how ABC Family programming, you read that right, is considered inclusive because 74% of its “family” viewing programming features gay – lesbian -trans-gender characters or themes. That is seventy-four percent. Now given that the LGBT “community” is but 2-3% of the population we guess more like 97% of American families do not “feature” gay or lesbian associations in their family life on an ongoing basis. The ABC “family” programming represents a huge distortion and the promulgation of the matter so uncritically by the AP/A-D serves to exclude the norm.
The QCT editorial board is in a world of its own — one that we find too emotionally draining to spend any great length of time trying to psychoanalyze. In particular that includes the editorial board’s championing of unlimited legal abortion on demand. Our previous comments should suffice regarding that for now. The QCT editorial board also serves as a shill for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion syndicate, an organization with approaching one half of the hundreds of thousands of elective abortions performed every year in this country.
The QCT has presumed Planned Parenthood’s denials to be gospel in the face of an undercover expose and whistle-blowers who have exposed Planned Parenthood’s selling of body parts of aborted babies and altering procedures contrary to law to get the best “specimens”. Th) is grotesque in its own way. However there are a couple of items in their most recent editorial page cover-up for Planned Parenthood that we can quickly dispatch.
On August 27th the QCT editorial board resorted to outright lying about Planned Parenthood’s activities or repeating Planned Parenthood’s lies as fact (which is no defense for a supposed news organization) and misleading the public about the implications of defunding Planned Parenthood of tax dollars. The following is from the August 27th masthead editorial of the QCT in response to news of 41 Iowa legislators asking for an investigation by Attorney General Tom Miller into Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale of parts of aborted babies — whether it goes on in Iowa.
We know that Planned Parenthood is the pre-eminent provider of women’s health care across America, spending government money to give poor women access to birth control, mammograms and many other health benefits.
The statement that Planned Parenthood does mammograms is a lie. It was a lie when Planned Parenthood promulgated it and it is now when its knee jerk shills repeat it. By Planned Parenthood’s own admission, one forced on them by direct questioning and true investigative reporting is that it does not do mammograms. It is a useful propaganda falsehood of course by Planned Parenthood’s irresponsible shills to imply that cutting already duplicative tax dollars for Planned Parenthood’s activities will result in undiagnosed breast cancers when Planned Parenthood clinics do not even have the equipment to perform mammograms.
We challenge the QCT to identify one Planned Parenthood clinic in the United States that performs mammograms.
