“W” aggressive at protecting the family dynasty instead of conservatism

Not seeing any magic in three

Not seeing any magic in three

The more we thought about it, the more annoyed we became over the now widely reported news that former president G .W. Bush  told high dollar donors at a fund raiser for his bother Jeb! that the one candidate he cannot stand is Ted Cruz. Via Politico:

Inside a sleek Denver condominium, George W. Bush let a hundred donors to his brother’s campaign in on a secret. Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, whom he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination.

It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support.

Recalling good ol’ George wa-y-y too above it all to criticize his successor. Wa-y-y-y too above it all to lash out at the sainted Ted Kennedy after Kennedy invited to the Bush ranch to view the film honoring his brother’s greatness, then going back to Washington to call GW a lying warmonger.

No observations from GW when Jimma Carter goes all over the world attacking Israel and the actions of the Bush years.

Nossir! The Bushes are just too gracious a family to publicly criticize those “in the arena”. Except maybe Ted Cruz.

Such a pathetic facade of being above it all is now revealed as phony.

Some say that GW was reluctant to interfere with the presidential elections of the Republican nominee.  Bad reasoning, but that does not explain his being silent after 2008 or as President in 2007 when he allowed Republicans trying to defend his policies to be excoriated.

G.W. Bush has a heart for the troops. But how effective is that concern when the VA goes to hell and our military withers under Obama?

It is politics, it is fighting Obama and Democrats politically that will cause the necessary changes to the VA in support of the troops and the defense of this country. Politics is something that Democrats do with bare knuckles.   Where have the tough fighting admonitions been from GW aimed at Democrats to do the right thing for the troops and the country?  The fight instinct seems to only come out when there is an opportunity to continue the dynasty.

We get that GW is loyal to his brother, but to condemn Ted Cruz because he has not said anything bad about Donald Trump is strange coming from one who has been so absent at  helping conservatives defend his presidency.  Trump has forcefully advocated support for the troops, rebuilding our military defenses and stopping the immigration invasion. Cruz has forcefully advocated  conservative positions, outclassing any of the other candidates in  upholding the Constitution. He has avoided concentrating on attacking any of the Republican challengers.

Cruz had the grace to say in response to GW’s graceless disdain (via The Blaze):

“I have great respect for George W Bush, and was proud to work on his 2000 campaign and in his administration,” Cruz said. “It’s no surprise that President Bush is supporting his brother and attacking the candidates he believes pose a threat to his campaign. I have no intention of reciprocating. I met my wife Heidi working on his campaign, and so I will always be grateful to him.”

In order to help his brother maybe GW at this point should just go back to the ranch. He should be clued in by now that staying on the road just help’s Cruz.
