Bad week for the KC Star

screen-shot-2016-09-16-at-2-52-16-pmWhen it comes to “all the news we wish we didn’t have to report” because it conflicts with our ‘progressive agenda’, if the QC screen-shot-2016-09-16-at-2-49-59-pmTimes is in “Class A ball”, the Kansas City Star is the Major League.

If there is a far left “progressive” position, the Star is “all in”. Sadly for the folks at the Star, this has not been a good week. Two tragic events occurred the past week, and the Star had to provide some coverage, reluctantly no doubt.

A couple of the Star’s most fondly held positions, which they regale their readers with daily, is the glories of illegal immigration and the benefits of strict gun control.

Consequently, it was a bad week for the Kansas City Star:
– A sheriff’s deputy killed by a drunk driver, previously convicted of DUI and an illegal alien.

– A 39 year old woman was attacked in a WalMart parking lot in KC by two black men. A “good samaritan” who came to her aid was shot three times; another good samaritan shot and killed the armed assailant while the second assailant escaped and was later apprehended.

Some details:

Suspect in Johnson County deputy’s death may be in U.S. illegally, had prior DUI

The man accused of driving drunk and killing a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy had at least one prior DUI conviction and may be in the country illegally.

Federal immigration officials have placed a “detainer” on Adrian Espinosa-Flores, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Master Deputy Brandon Collins.

“May be in U.S. illegally”- one would think it would be easy to establish someone’s legal status two days after their arrest. But no, liberals believe it is better to make their legality difficult to verify.

Man arrested in Shawnee Wal-Mart attack involving Good Samaritans

A 39-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman who had been shopping at the Wal-Mart at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Maurer Road was attacked in the parking lot about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Two men approached her while she was putting her child in a safety seat, police said. She was struck in the head.

A Good Samaritan tried to intervene, and one of the attackers shot him. A second Good Samaritan then shot one of the attackers, killing him.

And here’s a story which escaped my attention, having been out of town throughout the news cycle on this story:

Mistakes were made, and five people died.

Because of that, the case of Pablo Serrano-Vitorino — an illegal immigrant accused in a deadly two-state shooting rampage earlier this year — has raised questions about U.S. immigration policy and the coordination needed between local and federal law enforcement agencies tasked with implementing it.

On March 7, Serrano-Vitorino allegedly stormed into his neighbor’s Kansas City, Kan., home and fatally shot four men. Hours later, while on the run, he allegedly killed a man in mid-Missouri.

The 40-year-old Mexican citizen was in the United States illegally for the second time. Now jailed in Montgomery County, Mo., he faces five counts of first-degree murder in the Kansas and Missouri killings.

And those are only recent reports about illegal immigrant crime just in the KC area that even the KC Star could not ignore.
