Lindsey Graham: ‘I Don’t Know What America First Means’ – Breitbart
His consternation expressed in the interview above was with reference to President Trump’s foreign policy priorities. Is it acceptable then to wonder what Senator Graham’s priorities are if not America’s? We would presume he would say all his votes are ultimately to protect America. Why does he disallow that presumption applied to Trump? Do you believe in America first Senator? If not why not?
In listening to Graham you have to wonder about his obtuseness. ‘I Don’t Know What America First Means’ as if the statement is worrisome or incongruous with Trump’s various statements on trade and defense. Do you want a President who does not believe in America first Senator Graham? The statement by Graham was made after pointing out that Trump’s Secretary of Defense Kelly believes in “soft assets” (diplomacy and foreign aid) as does Secretary of State nominee Tillerson, whom Graham now says he will support. So Trump’s chief aids on the matter of foreign policy are not isolationist. And Trump has never said he was an isolationist. So what do you find inappropriate about “America first” in the realm of foreign policy, Senator? Do you expect him to say America 2nd . . . America 3rd?
Trump has said that he wants our allies to pick up more of their share in NATO and that our country is being ripped off by the United Nations which is routinely hostile to us. What do you find objectionable about those statements Senator? We wonder if Senator Graham has a magic phraseology to better telegraph that other countries need to do more for their own defense and that the US cannot be shackled with financing bailouts for despotic governments around the world? Or Senator, is President Trump supposed to say Uncle Sugar stands at the ready?
Graham also spoke of how Russia must be punished because everyone knows they interfered in our election. Apparently interference includes spying and propagandizing. When have they not Senator and when have we not? What was your response regarding Obama and Israel’s elections?
We note that Graham as a Republican leader was so logically obtuse in the face of the extreme threat of Hillary Clinton that he voted essentially fourth party. Nice clarity of purpose in the face of danger Senator. Great example of judgement. With reference to your “tweet” below, has Trump not called for a “strong America’ and the need to rebuild our military?
