Kudo’s to Iowa Senator Joni Ernst

We applaud Senator Joni Ernst for her commitment to the right to life of all innocent members of the human family and for honoring her campaign commitment to prioritizing comprehensive health care providers over abortion providers resulting in the defunding of the nations largest death-dealing baby parts selling abortion syndicate.  This letter from her office was received over the weekend.

Good afternoon –

Last December, at the end of his presidency, the Obama administration issued a last minute rule attempting to prevent states from prioritizing comprehensive health care providers over abortion providers for Title X family planning grants.

You see, the Obama administration wanted to do everything it could to secure federal funding streams for Planned Parenthood before they turned over the keys to the Trump administration.

However, the Senate stepped up and took action to stop Obama’s rule change in its tracks.

In January, I introduced legislation to reverse this Obama administration rule and restore decisions about the best eligible Title X providers to the states. This would ensure that states, like Iowa, aren’t forced by the federal government to give taxpayer dollars to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood – the nation’s single largest provider of abortion services.

I am thrilled to report to you that on March 30th, the Senate passed my legislation, and I look forward to the president signing it into law.

At the 2017 March for Life in Washington, D.C., I announced the introduction of this legislation to scrap the Obama administration’s rule and restore decisions about the best eligible Title X providers to the states.

That same day, Representative Black and I penned a column in the Washington Examiner detailing our commitment to protecting life. Click here to read the column
