Bret Stephens calls for superior character…he’s with Hillary

YESSIR, ‘CHARACTER COUNTS’…STEPHENS IS THUS ‘WITH HER’

One of the above is Bret Comey, or is it James Stephens, regardless, they are not credible.

“Because character counts, I am a conservative who cannot support Trump;

and thus, the sanctimonious Bret Stephens says this: “But I still wish Hillary Clinton were president.” !!!!!  He does go on . . .

“Look at every other administration embarrassment (Scaramucci) or failure (the wall, and Mexico paying for it) or disgrace (the Charlottesville equivocation). Responsibility invariably lies with the president’s intemperance and dishonesty.”

Let us slip in an editorial comment as to the above — Mexico will pay for it, one way or another and the only disgrace about Trump’s Charlottesville comments is the distortion and calumny by the likes of Stephens.

Tax cuts. Deregulation. More for the military; less for the United Nations. The Islamic State crushed in its heartland. Assad hit with cruise missiles. Troops to Afghanistan. Arms for Ukraine. A tougher approach to North Korea. Jerusalem recognized as Israel’s capital. The Iran deal decertified. Title IX kangaroo courts on campus condemned. Yes to Keystone. No to Paris. Wall Street roaring and consumer confidence high.

And, of course, Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. What, for a conservative, is there to dislike about this policy record as the Trump administration rounds out its first year in office?

That’s the question I keep hearing from old friends on the right who voted with misgiving for Donald Trump last year and now find reasons to like him. I admit it gives me pause. I agree with every one of the policy decisions mentioned above. But I still wish Hillary Clinton were president. . . .

So Stephens then comes up with a James Comey-ish conclusion  . . . as in no sane attachment to the prefatory remarks provided. Comey testified about crimes Hillary committed only to conclude Hillary did no crime. Stephens prefaces a quite overwhelming list of conservative achievements to conclude electing the anti-Christ herself instead of Trump would have been better for conservatives and the country.

Cal Thomas writing at Fox News has a blistering response to Stephens:

Trump’s record should delight any conservative — even at The New York Times
