Sailor in Famous ‘Kiss’ Photo Dies; Sex Assault Charges Dropped

Could possibly be fake news

Definitely a display of toxic masculinity – look at those aghast

WSJ, 2/19/19. “The sailor shown kissing a woman in Times Square celebrating the end of World War II died Sunday. George Mendonsa was 95 years old.

“Mendonsa was shown in the famous photo kissing Greta Zimmer Friedman, a dental assistant in a nurse’s uniform on Aug. 14, 1945, known as V-J Day. Mr. Mendonsa planted a kiss on Ms. Friedman, whom he had never met, as people spilled into the New York City streets to celebrate the war’s end.

“The photo… was first published in Life magazine and is called “V-J Day in Times Square”.

Ms. Friedman died in 2016 at age 92.”

(Veritaspac’s New York Bureau has learned of an unconfirmed report that sex assault charges for unwanted advances in the incident, were filed in 2018 against Mendonsa by the “Me-Too” movement; they have now been dropped.)
