Pins and Needles Presidential Election Scott County Results

Nine states still not called/counted.  Biden leads for now in Electoral College

Trump wins Iowa handily as does Joni Ernst.

Iowa flips Congressional delegation back to Republican.  Hinson wins 1st CD beating incumbent Finkenaur   Miller-Meeks looks to have won 2nd CD narrowly 196769 to Hart’s 196,487 (open seat)  Feenstra handily beats Schlten out west (open seat).  Dave Young loses to Dem incumbent Axne by 6000 votes (fairly narrow).

Of Iowa’s 99 counties Trump won all but five counties  (the usual suspects –  Scott, Linn, Polk, Johnson and Story)  Several of these were lost by large margins.  Ernst won all but nine counties, the five plus one or two of four others narrowly.

Turnout in Scott County was 70.03 %.  In 2016 the turnout was 68.5%

Trump lost Scott County in 2020 47.18% to Biden’s  50.67%

Trump lost Scott County in 2016   45.41% to Hillary’s 46.90%

Ernst lost Scott County last night by about same margin as Trump. Greenfield 49.94% to Ernst 46.88%.  More comments on the Republican performance in coming posts.

Scott County incumbents, Democrat and Republican, at state and county level in this county all won including however narrowly the Republican Supervisors.

All judges on the ballot in Scott County were retained quite handily (good and bad)      More comments on the Republican performance in coming posts

The ballot issue regarding a call for a constitutional convention failed in Scott County and the state.
