CNN’s Juridical Posing

If one seldom watches CNN but saw the early show this AM, they would be shocked, to put it mildly. As an observer of this network, I felt they certainly lived down to their reputation and expectations.

To say it briefly, CNN has begun its inquiry into the Ferguson “incident”, led by renowned jurist Chris Cuomo, aided by CNN’s premier legal anal-ist Jeffrey Toobin, and included in the prosecution, Van Jones.

The network started the day with “testimony” from one of the “witnesses who had testified before the “other” grand jury. A relatively young black lady, she was clearly dismayed by the “no bill” outcome. Chris Cuomo is too, from all indications. Chris drilled into how the lady felt her testimony was received. She wasn’t sure but the prosecutor’s questioning of her seemed to annoy her. The gist of her “testimony” was that M. Brown “showed his hands”…she thought to indicate he was not armed and she concluded he therefore should not have been shot.

The coherence of her testimony before “Judge” Cuomo would seem to a casual observer that she may have been one of those “witnesses” whose testimony would have been considered meritless…but that’s just me.

Jeffrey Toobin weighed in later with a rather striking observation that, after discussion of Brown’s actions in the 7-11 (or whatever), his theft of “cigarillos’, assault on the clerk, attack on the policeman, his attempt to wrest the gun away, and his attempt to flee, Jeffrey felt that the cop should not have given chase…cuz then, Brown wouldn’t have been shot.

It was truly stunning to hear Toobin say that cops shouldn’t chase fleeing felons despite being attacked by them because, well, the felons might get hurt.

The entire thrust of the CNN show seems intended to, and likely will help to inflame tensions, discredit the grand jury, etc. Truly disgusting!!!!

We must now await the outcome of the CNN grand jury…what will it rule!!???    DLH

One Response to CNN’s Juridical Posing

  1. Bob Kauth says:

    Roger,
    Very Good !,
There would not be so many black men in jail, if only the police did not
Pursue them….. And sometimes use deadly force.
