Ban interplay with California collegiate teams

  • California’s assault on amateur athletics
  • Great opportunity for a little object lesson to California

California to let college athletes make money, setting up likely fight that could reshape US sports

Readers are well aware that California is notorious for banning official state travel to states that do not abide by its code of conduct.  With that state’s apparent go-ahead for its organized collegiate players to no longer be amateur but paid professionals, essentially pitting professional athletes in their state against amateurs from other states, we believe that all other states,  but especially those states on California’s banned list,  should deny state funds to any institution under its purview to compete in athletic competition with California school related teams. This would be whether or not the California school itself has such a policy.  That would be consistent with California’s approach to enforcing its own restrictions  and code of conduct.

Frankly such restriction should be beyond what was formally amateur athletics.  States should return the favor to California for all matters of state supported intercourse. No Californication period.
