Dubuque event – cold hands – warm hearts

  • Actually, there was a lot more cold than our hands

Crowd turns to see Trumps “smaller airport” back-up plane arrive and the President and daughter Ivanka deplane

Those in attendance had to arrive hours early for security clearance, and to get the best views. The temperature hovered around 35 degrees and the wind was really something, averaging 22 mph, gusting regularly to 32 +-  providing an invigorating stand around wind-chill temperature for five hours of 23 degrees.  We mention this in case the media reports the crowd as somehow not so big or muted.  It was neither, and enthusiasm, patriotism and good humor were  evident for the duration.

Preliminary speakers included Jeff Kaughman Iowa GOP leader,  various political candidates, Chuck Grassley, Terry Branstad and of course Joni Ernst who we pray will beat Lying Theresa Greenfield, Schumer’s great hope having overseen the “investment” of ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS  to beat Ernst.  With Democrats spending twice as much  to defeat Ernst, that puts Iowa as the second most expensive Senate race in the country this season.  Of course the news of the most recent DMR poll (see previous post) showing both Trump and Ernst and three of the four Republican congressional candidates in the lead warmed the old cockles.

Trump was great, warm, using his trademark kidding bodacious manner to get across what he has been doing for the country and will continue to do and the dangers of “Sleepy Joe”.  We were pressed for time so had to leave a little early, but Ivanka Trump was also in attendance and made a great presentation. Trump also featured clips from Joe Biden shown in the jumbo-tron to astonish the crowd.  It was a great event to be at, cheering on America’s greatness. Here are some phone camera pics from the event.

Dozens of buses brought people to the event , car parking was strung along Highway 61.

The “big guy’ (not Biden) is at the podium in this photo. Crowd placement was quite intimate

Which is not to say security was not very evident at all times

The winds kept the flags flapping loudly and proudly for the duration

All we got was a free cap, but very nice and made in America

This guy had a great sport coat
