Here are a couple of clips showing what the Democrats are about.

First a montage of the  thirty-four great things the Democrats refused to stand for during President Trump’s (and he is still their president) SOTU address. Many even refused polite applause.

After it is a short clip via The NY Post and Washington Examiner clearly showing that Speaker Pelosi’s fit at the conclusion of the speech was no impulsive “Italian grandmother’s” statement.  She did a test tear to insure dramatic (drama queen) effect.

These are worthwhile video reminders.  Then a little meme we picked up on featuring AOC, bless her heart.

Clearly Pelosi planned, had time to think about, her stunt.  She later shredded the recognition of not only the fine guests and their great achievements, including a Tuskegee airman being brevetted as a Brigadier General, she disparaged the country’s economic come-back and great momentum (note the 34 points in the video above).

Democrats were not the only ones to have a bad week.

Poor Miss Peggy. This must have been one of the most difficult columns she has ever had to write. In it she not only had to report on just how inept, disrespectful, and foolish the ‘leadership’ (perhaps that’s an inaccurate, too-kind a term) of today’s Democratic Party is.

She also had to, in her most grudging way, acknowledge the genius and effectiveness of Donald Trump (“The speech itself was shrewd and its political targeting astute…This was the president putting the Republican Party on the side of the nobodies of all colors as opposed to the somebodies.”)

Ms. Noonan did that part in the most unprofessional way that she has developed to a high art form in recent years  (“…I’d be lying if I said it didn’t please me to see it represented so effectively, and I very much regret that the president is a bad man and half mad because if he weren’t I’d be cheering.”)

Her final lament in concluding her hardest-to-write-column:  “Whatever happens with him (Trump), that is the party’s future. Whatever happens with the Democrats they cannot afford another week like this.”     dlh

Bernie Sanders Declares Iowa Victory as Caucus Results Remain Uncertain

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) claimed an Iowa victory three days after the election, despite official caucus results remaining up in the air.

With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Sanders and Pete Buttigieg (D) are neck and neck; Buttigieg maintains an edge in the delegate count, but Sanders leads in the popular vote.

Despite the lack of official results, Sanders is proclaiming victory.

“What I want to do today, three days late, is to thank the people of Iowa for the very strong victory they gave us at the Iowa caucuses on Monday night,” Sanders said at his campaign headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Thursday.

“When 6,000 more people come out for you in an election than your nearest opponent, we here in northern New England call that a victory,” he continued.

According to the most recent results, Sanders leads in the popular vote with 26.5 percent to Buttigieg’s 25 percent, but he trails his challenger by 0.1 percent in the delegate count:

Sanders 44,753 26.5%
Buttigieg 42,235 25.0%

Sanders eased concerns about his challenger holding the edge in the delegate count, calling it “meaningless” because “he and Buttigieg were both likely to receive the same number of national delegates,” the Washington Post reported.

“Those national delegates, not the state delegates, are the ones that really matter in the nominating process,” Sanders said.

“That screw-up has been extremely unfair to the people of Iowa. It has been unfair to the candidates —all of the candidates —and all of their supporters,” the socialist senator added.

Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Tom Perez broke his silence on Thursday, calling for state officials to recanvass the Iowa caucus vote.

“Enough is enough,” he wrote. “In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass.”

Iowa Democrats released a statement in response to Perez’s demand, writing, in part, “Should any presidential campaign in compliance with the Iowa Delegate Selection Plan request a recanvass, the IDP is prepared”:

Results Continue to Come in From the Iowa Caucuses But the Math Doesn’t Seem to Add Up

Results from Monday night’s caucuses in Iowa are still coming in. As of now, 92 percent of precincts are reporting and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg is currently in the lead, with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in a close second.

Many of us have wondered what the hold up is and why the math is taking so long to calculate who came out victorious.

According to Lulu Friesdat, the founder of SMART Elections and a writer for The Hill, it looks as though there are rounding errors in the precinct math worksheets.

Thread. We found #RoundingErrors in 30% of the precinct math worksheets that we examined from the #IowaCaucus. Each “rounding error” gave one extra delegate to a candidate, over 50% of the time the extra delegate went to Pete Buttigieg.

The #RoundingErrors could lead to a significant number of delegates. They were in 30% of the precincts we examined. If 30% of 1678 precincts have an extra delegate assigned this way, it could be approximately 500 delegates. Buttigieg is currently leading Sanders by 18 delegates

The #RoundingErrors were discovered by Teresa Basey a member of the #SMARTelections #CountTheVote team.

We were only able to see a small sample of caucus math worksheets. We would like to see more.

“When Awarding Delegates, Decimals of .5 and greater are rounded up and decimals less than .5 are rounded down to the nearest whole number,” the sheets instructions say. That’s pretty straight forward math.

But here’s where things get tricky. A rule in the Iowa Democratic Party’s Precinct Leader Manual says that if the number of viable delegates is higher than the number calculated based on those who voted and the candidates still in the race, an extra delegate is given out. That extra delegate is given to the candidate with the highest decimal below .5. If there is a tie then a coin toss takes place for that extra delegate.

I tried to contact the IDP all day for an explanation. They’re not answering the phone & the caucus guide is not available. I’ll update our site w/ this info, but the math is problematic. Extra delegates are there because you’re dividing by total caucus members, not final voters.

She did, however, point out one interesting fact: the delegate calculation is based on the original number of voters, not the final round. That means people are being counted for votes even when they’re not voting when their candidate is no longer considered viable.

We note that based on numbers this caucus and from the one four years previous, confirms one thing –   the rank and file activists of the party are largely comm-simps.  Bernie Sanders people have been at least half of the attendees in both caucuses — and the rest if the wannabee nominees have tried to convince people they are like him.

Other theories about the Democrat caucus count problem:

That the caucuses were often held in schools explains the attendees demeanor of being demanding and disruptive without result

Attendees wanted more sex education rather than to “do math”

The issuance of crayons as marking devices in order to make attendees feel at home was a mistake as they are notably edible

After dissing President Trump in the traditional introduction as Speaker, Pelosi pulled this camera stunt. In an interview afterwords, she told the press ~~ it was the best alternative (to what she might do with it).

Now two days after the event, when all the contenders have left for New Hampshire – who is going to care by the time the Democrats find enough cypherers to count the results and release the totals?

From preliminary information that we have read Comm-Simp Sanders probably won the actually vote tally in spite of Buttigieg‘s quick claim to overall victory.

The Dems Iowa caucus system requires thresholds and a process of realigning allowing some candidates to be “viable” going forward into the caucus evening  by having supporters of lesser candidates not meeting the threshold “aligning” with a different one to make that one viable or as a matter of next best preference.

During the initial vote tallying numbers are reported and once it is all finished final numbers indicating delegate strength to the ongoing conventions and ultimate nomination, are released.

Regrettably for the Democrat owned and operated public education system in Iowa, not enough people were present to understand directions, count accurately, and initiate the  (we presume) back-up  plan of phoning in the results by voice. A big part of the delay, only aggravated by revelations, might be that the candidate representatives responsible for verifying and reporting the results, actually distrust one another,  so it becomes a cat-hurd process.

Too bad. This is two times in a row for Dems here screwing up, or screwing the presidential nomination process.  They might have blown it at least for Democrats recognizing and Iowa’s first-in-the-nation status.

One interesting aspect is that delegate strength only roughly corresponds to supporters in attendance. We note some preliminary figures indicated that some candidates had significant higher percentages of supporters at the caucuses than indicated by percentage of delegate strength awarded.  Given that much of the Democrat Party says the Electoral College must go in favor of pure democracy in action, Buttigieg one candidate in particular,  isn’t it ironic that he claims “victory” based on delegate estimates rather than having more people present than Bernie.  Isn’t it also ironic that a party so devoted to pure democracy maintains a non-democratic system for its own affairs.

Bernie, they are screwing you again.  But don’t be too stressed.  They will still produce a socialist, even if not in name.

Republican caucuses in Scott County

Our participation in our own Republican precinct caucus was gratifying.  We  have experienced just about every such caucus since they started, chairing several including this one. Attendance was more than expected,  twice as much as I expected. It was because of the desire to turn out for Trump even though there was little opposition   The system went smoothly including the requirement for photo ID’s. The attendees all stayed for the duration which included producing 20 platform recommendations in our precinct. Ear-to-the-ground reports that came our way included similar descriptions, although at least one precincts reported that opportunity for platform input was subverted.

Trump received 97+% of the votes at the caucuses in spite of a libertarian candidate or two being announced and plenty of Never-Trump media.
