Mayor Gluba’s charitableness at taxpayer expense

According to data provided to the House Judiciary Committee  2/3 of unaccompanied illegal immigrant “children” requesting asylum this year have had their initial applications approved. Read the Washington Times story here.

Those not approved can appeal, most likely will and the percentage granted asylum is likely to rise.  What it essentially means is that they are being granted long term if not permanent residency status. They will be eligible, certainly as minors, for all manor of special programs and welfare benefits on a long term basis belying Mayor Gluba’s talk of temporary shelters.

The figures just released lend credence to what is behind the current rush by Central Americans . . . the idea of making it to the border – pleading for asylum – and the likelihood of being able to stay is largely assured, with welfare needs being met.  America is a great country.  The long-term care numbers may ultimately require the building of a new school in Davenport , or classroom additions,  for the “Gluba share” as full integration will no doubt be required.

Comparing Obama’s  executive orders to other presidents

Readers are familiar with the ‘Bush did it” response of liberals when Obama’s excesses are challenged. Obama has issued a fearful amount of executive orders circumventing the legislative process required by the Constitution. Liberals respond uniformly as if the type of executive order is irrelevant and that criticisms are neutralized by the statistics that this or that other president in modern times has issued more. Jonathan Turley, well known liberal law professor and Obama supporter, has this to say:

the use of the numerical comparison of executive orders is rather intellectually dishonest  . . . It is obviously simplistic and misleading to suggest that the number of such orders measures the degree to which a president is overreaching on executive power. You could have one executive order that effectively guts the separations of power or 500 such orders that are largely house-keeping or minor clarifying measures. It is like saying that a corporate executive who steals $1 billion dollars is manifestly less culpable than a street criminal with 100 theft arrests.
