Milley has much to answer for

Seems a very similar scenario appeared in V’pac some days ago. Anybody notice if Hanson’s name was in the byline?        dlh

To understand Milley’s gambit, imagine Admiral Ernest King, soon to be chief of naval operations, sometime in November 1941 secretly contacting Japanese Imperial Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, to warn him and the Japanese high command that Admiral King felt President Roosevelt was both too trigger happy for a Pacific war and was also increasingly infirm and unsteady.

And thus, King would step forward to promise Admiral Yamamoto and the Japanese military grandees that if he felt there was any possible aggressive or peremptory presidential order against Japan, King would tip him off first.

Note that critical contemporaries had complained both that Roosevelt was pining for a pretext for war with Japan and that his closed circle had hidden many of his serious health challenges from the public—and note also that the chances that a President Roosevelt or Trump would have ever staged a preemptive attack on a belligerent neutral were—absolutely zero.

This devastating critique of Milley and more at latest Hanson article at  American Greatness.

Here we go again – too little interest in local elections

  • School Board race in Davenport needs to be shaken up –
  • End process of not foxes but voracious wolves “guarding” the chicken coop — teachers unions
  • Those who school your children, rule the world
  • Be very concerned about Marxist  policies being injected into curricula in loco parentis and in defiance of state directives
  • Local school boards  need to govern, protect children from culture rot
  • Don’t allow School districts to spend your tax dollars to employ teachers who defy state education policy to teach doctrine that goes against your values
  • Potential for organized effort on behalf of write-in candidates to carry the day

First a glimpse at local municipal election prospects — not good particularly in Davenport

Looking at the Scott County Auditor candidate listing on the Election Central web portal we see less than vibrant interest again for local municipal seats. Many races are unopposed.

The city of Davenport primary Election Day is October 5th. There is only one race with interest sufficient for a primary — 7th Ward which is the vacated seat of new County Auditor Kerri Tompkins.  See summary comments below.

Davenport has a non-partisan council and mayoral election,  as in candidates do not run as Republican or Democrat. That is not a good government practice as candidates too often come to the process without a discernible platform or philosophy honed by useful party processes or an identification that is easily transmitted to voters who need something to go on.

Nothing prevents the candidates from advertising a party affiliation but for some naive reason few ever do. The Republican Party in lieu of an official return to partisan city elections (ended several decades ago) ought to foster candidates, proceed to vet them via precinct committee meeting and endorse those meeting appropriate criteria. Democrats are not shy about involving themselves officially, sub-rosa and  through proxies and Republicans need to be aggressive in doing so.   More detail and observation on the mayoral race in Davenport in another post.

They teach your children

As regards school board races there is more apparent interest (the flavor unknown without surveys to help discern) in the better performing districts Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley and North Scott. Theirs are vibrant by comparison to the Davenport Community School District (DCSD), an ongoing underperforming district.

School board interest may be a phenomenon of people voting with their feet –  moving or now voting with open enrollment for higher performing school districts and due to the disastrous fall in Iowa performance, once a leader in the nation, the move to private and charter schools and home schooling.  The flight from public schools and perhaps interest not so ironically aggravated  by school boards  that insist on unhealthy mask mandates.

Perhaps exemplifying this is Bettendorf which is not pursuing mask mandates   and Davenport which has imposed them — the latter a five to two decision by the way.

There are three spots open for the Bettendorf School District and seven people running.  Davenport also has three spots open but only four people running. It is the level of interest that impresses us apart from any philosophies being pursued.  We wish we had a more of a read on the latter.

There is hope for Davenport Schools if people get behind a write-in effort for a slate of candidates now afoot. Given the usual turn-out for school board races a successful effort is quite possible.  More on that in a coming post.

In the meantime a protest of DCSD policy will be held this evening at the DCSD building Main and Locust. We plan to attend.

The Marxist Left & Pope’s (we repeat ourselves) One World Government Phraseology

  • “An Ever Wider We” (as in no stated limits) no nation states /culture to protect
  • Plenty of context to contend the bumper sticker portends open borders and one-world government
  • And, Francis, who needs walls?…like around the Vatican
  • Fealty or at least aprreciation for this Pope? Sure when he stands for protecting the faith against confusion and protecting Christian culture from the implications and  imposition of one world government
  • One world government inhibits religious freedoms

Did You Know the Pope Has Declared 2021 as the year of “Towards An Ever Wider We”?

(Could also be called the “Year of ‘Who Needs Borders’?”)

“In the letter, the groups said they were particularly disheartened by Mr. Biden‘s comments at a town hall in July when he said migrants “should not come.”The letter comes just ahead of the Catholic Church’s World Day for Migrants and Refugees, which is Sunday. The pope has labeled this year’s celebration “Towards an Ever Wider We.”
——–
A coalition of 164 Catholic groups sent a letter to President Biden on Thursday telling him his border policies violate the tenets of his own faith and urged him to embrace Pope Francis’ teachings.

(Did those “164 Catholic groups” also tell Biden his “abortion support” violates the tenets of his own faith?).     dlh

The article:

By Stephen Dinan – The Washington Times – Thursday, September 23, 2021
A coalition of 164 Catholic groups sent a letter to President Biden on Thursday telling him his border policies violate the tenets of his own faith and urged him to embrace Pope Francis’ teachings.

The groups blasted the pandemic border expulsion authority, known as Title 42, which the government says gives it the power to immediately turn back illegal immigrants without giving them the chance to make claims for protection in the U.S.

The Trump administration triggered Title 42 in March 2020, and Mr. Biden has kept it in place, enraging his core supporters among the immigrant-rights activists.
“The misuse of Title 42 is a travesty that perpetuates grave harm not only on the migrant community, but upon all of us living in the United States,” the groups said.
They said it treats migrants as “them,” defying Francis’ call to “think no longer in terms of ‘them’ and ‘those,’ but only ‘us.’” The groups also said the logic behind the federal policy is that illegal immigrants are more disease-prone, which they called a “false, hateful, dehumanizing narrative.”

In the letter, the groups said they were particularly disheartened by Mr. Biden‘s comments at a town hall in July when he said migrants “should not come.”The letter comes just ahead of the Catholic Church’s World Day for Migrants and Refugees, which is Sunday. The pope has labeled this year’s celebration “Towards an Ever Wider We.”Mr. Biden is Catholic and regularly attends Mass, though the American church has been engaged in a debate over his fealty to the faith, given his support for abortion rights and his attempt to expand taxpayer funding for the procedure.

Biden is not defying the Pope,  just issuing a toothless response of political necessity.  Both use rhetoric that suggest migration is a universal right THAT “RECEIVING” COUNTRIES CITIZENS HAVE NO SAY IN THE MATTER (other than to agree with open borders).

Grassley to run again – on that decision thanks for nothing

At 4:00 AM this morning Senator Grassley tweeted his announcement prior to beginning his morning jog. There was some speculation about whether he would run and this conservative held the opinion that the timing was best for the country’s senior senator to retire.  Iowa is in good shape politically to replace him with a younger conservative if they are of a MAGA orientation and then to see that person be reelected.

I welcome a primary that recognizes Grassley’s past contributions to sustaining key elements of conservatism, yeoman work, but no Republican competitor should shrink from a call to the future critiquing Grassley’s performance of late. Grassley has validated the legitimacy of the Biden atrocity without a serious fight, expressed calumnies about events of January 6th, and seriously hazarded the country against the better judgement and foresight of the great majority of his own Republican caucus by essentially advancing a Marxist agenda wrapped up in an infrastructure bill (bad in its own right) setting the stage for a reconciliation bill that puts the country at the mercy of Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema unnecessarily risking the Republic.

Grassley did this in the name of the entry sign to the swamp -“regular order” – as if the denizens in charge abided by it when it did not suit them or as if whatever chess game he thinks he is playing actually has any rules the other side will not circumvent in a heartbeat.  Ironically Chuck did these things, swamp things, beltway things, weak things ultimately hazarding even his own  “bring home the bacon” agenda of ethanol and wind, that is if he has any appreciation of the implications of what he has voted to advance.

A lot is at stake Chuck and you are not all that necessary.

At 88 years old now I do not know what the actuaries say about his completing another six-year term without debillitating major illness or something more permanent.  That said, Chuck Grassley is no doubt one of the most likely late octogenarians to do so intact.  He remains bright and vigorous, far more than Biden ten years his junior.  I will support the Republican victor in a primary because the stakes are that high but I think the future calls for a solid conservative alternative to emerge from the primary as they can beat anyone the Democrats have.

Queens for the day

Sorry, meant memes for the day.  Thanks to TN.

The protest last weekend that Queen Nancy was so worried about was attended more by media, “security” and “undercover” feds.

Leftist Organ “Fact Checkers” are not devoted to truth . . .

. . . offer only blindered leftist “analysis”

REMEMBER WHEN THE “NEWS” MEDIA KEPT TRACK OF THE PRESIDENT’S LIES?

The Washington Post says that President Trump told “30,573 untruths” during his 4-year term.

Apparently The Washington Post has either stopped its tracking of presidential ‘untruths’…or, it believes that Biden has not told an “untruth’ even once during his first 8 months of his presidency.

Or maybe, The Washington Post DOESN”T CARE how many lies President Biden’s administration tells!

The Fact Checker counted a total of 30,573 false or misleading claims made by President Trump during his White House tenure. Here’s what we learned. (Adriana Usero/The Washington Post)——-From The Washington Post:

January 24, 2021 at 3:00 a.m. EST
When The Washington Post Fact Checker team first started cataloguing President Donald Trump’s false or misleading claims, we recorded 492 suspect claims in the first 100 days of his presidency. On Nov. 2 alone, the day before the 2020 vote, Trump made 503 false or misleading claims as he barnstormed across the country in a desperate effort to win reelection.
This astonishing jump in falsehoods is the story of Trump’s tumultuous reign. By the end of his term, Trump had accumulated 30,573 untruths during his presidency — averaging about 21 erroneous claims a day.
What is especially striking is how the tsunami of untruths kept rising the longer he served as president and became increasingly unmoored from the truth.
Trump averaged about six claims a day in his first year as president, 16 claims day in his second year, 22 claims day in this third year — and 39 claims a day in his final year. Put another way, it took him 27 months to reach 10,000 claims and an additional 14 months to reach 20,000. He then exceeded the 30,000 mark less than five months later.

Biden reign  has been one big lie after another  . . . “no vaccine mandates” . . .  “return to normalcy”  “competency” . . .  better foreign relations  . . . his election.

O”Biden’s General: Milley’s Russian and China collusion

  • Remember how a year ago an American general meeting with a Russian was somehow a great scandal

MORE TROUBLE FOR MILLEY? ON HEELS OF CHINA CALL,

General Flynn would’ve gone to prison if Trump had not pardoned him… for a much more innocent contact with the Russian ambassador…and, it was part of Flynn’s job as National Security advisor

From BizpacReview article:

In a meet-up in Helsinki, Finland, today, U.S. Army Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, engaged in what’s being characterized as a confidential, six-hour discussion with his military Russian counterpart.

“It was a productive meeting. When military leaders of great powers communicate, the world is a safer place,” Gen. Milley reportedly remarked after the session.

An prolocutor for critical race theory fan Milley, the latter who has admitted to being an avid reader of the works of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and Mao Zedong, implied that there is nothing to see here.

The article above refers to Milley’s contact with Chinese military leadership and also quotes General Milley as saying in 2015 (bold our emphasis)  that: “China is not an enemy” and that Russia is America’s only true threat”  (ed. note: no doubt due to the Russian flu they sent world-wide).

All of which must have inspired the rumor we heard:

The Chairman was just trying to assure Xi Jin Ping that, even though Trump didn’t like Chinese, Milley himself had no “yellow rage” and he would let China know if US was planning an attack…to give them time to launch a “pre-emptive” strike.

“It’s what friends do”, Milley explained.

“Amen !”, said the devout Joe Biden                                  dlh

From Uk’s Daily Mail:

Biden says he has ‘great confidence’ in Joint Chiefs chairman Milley despite him admitting he DID call China and lectured staff on nukes protocol: Trump’s defense secretary says he ‘did not’ authorize calls and general should resign

  • President Joe Biden said he has ‘great confidence’ in General Mark Milley after he admitted to holding calls with his Chinese counterpart working under Trump
  • Press Secretary Jen Psaki called Milley a ‘patriot’ when defending him
  • She said Biden has ‘complete confidence’ in Milley’s ‘fidelity to our Constitution’
  • Former Acting Pentagon chief said he ‘would never’ authorize the ‘secret’ calls
  • General Mark Milley confirmed the phone calls took place in a Wednesday statement via his spokesman Colonel Dave Butler
  • A new book claims Milley phoned his Chinese counterpart to give reassurances two days after the January 6 Capitol riot
  • Trump accused him of treason and Republicans are demanding he resign
  • The book’s revelations triggered a wave of concern that Milley had violated the chain of command and endangered national security
  • Milley was concerned Trump may take rogue action to stay in office
  • All of the above was detailed in ‘Peril’, an upcoming book about the 2020 presidential election by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa

Hope springs eternal, or at least for the mid-terms

  • Early Iowa Poll, all manner of things can change prior to mid-terms
  • Cheaters have proven they can prosper in the short term and Democrats are quite good at it
  • However they can’t cheat eternal damnation

CNN Warns Latest Polling Should ‘Terrify’ Democrats Ahead of Midterms

CNN Warns Latest Polling Should ‘Terrify’ Democrats Ahead of Midterms
CV NEWS FEED // CNN’s Chris Cillizza wrote an essay warning that huge numbers of American voters are turning against President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

“It’s the rare poll that makes an entire party sit up and take notice. The new Iowa poll is one of those polls,” wrote Cillizza:

Just 31% of Iowans approved of how Joe Biden is handling his duties as president while a whopping 62% disapprove. …Biden’s approval on pulling American troops out of Afghanistan stands at a meager 22%. Approval for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is now just 36% among Iowans.

Cillizza described the new poll numbers as “a blaring red alarm for not just Biden but especially down-ballot Democrats — in Iowa and elsewhere — who will be running in the 2022 midterms.”

“If Biden’s numbers are anywhere close to this bad in other swing states — and districts — Democrats’ hopes of holding onto their very narrow three-seat House majority are somewhere close to nonexistent,” Cillizza explained, citing a 2018 Gallup essay which stated:

In Gallup’s polling history, presidents with job approval ratings below 50% have seen their party lose 37 House seats, on average, in midterm elections. That compares with an average loss of 14 seats when presidents had approval ratings above 50%.

While Cillizza may hold out some hope for the “other swing states” he mentioned, one such state brought bad news for Biden this week as well.

The latest poll in Michigan found that Biden “has seen his approval ratings fall more drastically” than even the increasingly-unpopular Gov. Gretchen Whittmer, a fellow Democrat. “About 39% of voters approved of [Biden’s] performance and 53% disapproved” according to the new Glengariff Group poll, Detroit News reported.

Cillizza concluded by reiterating that “if the President’s numbers in Iowa are anything close to where they are today” when the midterms come around, “it is an absolute disaster for Democrats” and “would presage the near-certain loss of a large number of House seats (and their majority) come next November.”

Chuck Grassley has helped make Joe Manchin the man of the hour

  • Chuck Grassley has disappointed, to say the least
  • The big question now is which one is more dependable and to which Party, Grassley or Manchin (see links)

Chuck has done his work, easily rolling over (along with the rest of the Iowa delegation) for an election with more corruption than you can shake a stick at for the weakest constitutional and historic analysis, heralding in the most corrupt and anti-constitutional administration in history.  Grassley compounded that by repeating calumnies about January 6th, which in reality was an overwhelmingly peaceful protest with what any balanced interpreter of American history would attest was a relative kerfuffle but for the killing of an unarmed diminutive woman by a policeman.  The continued persecution of any overwrought participants is a crime in itself, and appears to be an attempt at coverup of revelations of the presence of not only leftist agitators but even law enforcement provocateurs.

And Chuck Grassley is there to lecture and save us from it all, except not

Having helped pass the largely boondoggle laden leftist precursor 1.5 trillion dollar “infrastructure” bill against the better judgment of the great majority of his betters in the Republican Senate caucus who actually understood what the Democrats were up to because the Democrats told everyone — pass this to pave the way for the communist revolution encompassed in the 3.5 trillion dollar reconciliation package that only needs 50 votes in the Senate — Chuck exclaimed “regular order” as if voting AGAINST something also was consistent with regular order.

But hey, wave some bridge improvements (not repair, improvements), grease the away for more green energy (shortsightedly for his way of thinking to the detriment of Queen Ethanol) some other executive lobbying group support (the usual suspects in pursuit of  concentrated gain for diffuse pain to others in the form of taxes, inflation and forgone better spending) and Chuck is on board helping to steer.  Of course the real bricks, steal, concrete and asphalt improvements would come anyway with an authentic infrastructure bill but Chuck chose to get all righteous defending “regular order” among swamp dwellers with all the integrity of alligators.   Give it upChuck.

Chuck Grassley (along with the rest of the Iowa delegation) having decided that the Constitution mandates validation of corrupted elections without delay, Grassley greased the way for the communist manifesto reconciliation bill perhaps because he thought all his “regular order” nostrums would  not hazard the Republic. The ship mates “colleagues”  this former yeoman helmsman in the Senate is subjecting the country to are not merely drunken sailors, as the saying goes, with reference to any application to Democrats, an insult to drunken sailors everywhere.  They are soberly intent on upending this country. They mean business.  They will attempt to plow through the icebergs and Chuck is content to stand aside on the steering deck mumbling “regular order”.

Maybe there will be some one-day heroes in this, perhaps better said to be useful idiots for actual good,  at least as regards the 3.5 trillion dollar reconciliation bill, at least to mitigate it.  Chuck Grassley cannot be construed to being one of them having set the stage for the opportunity for a speedy cataclysm. One or two Democrats might delay the process long enough for the 2022 midterms.  Perhaps it is not a useless prayer to pray for Joe Machin and Kyrsten Sinema to actually do the right thing, maybe even for the right reasons.    R Mall

Astounding duplicity: Milley lionized, Flynn indicted

Regarding the Biden Bovine Administration

I wonder why it has not been prominently discussed that there is an almost eerie comparison between what Milley is being defended vigorously for by the entire Biden administration and Democrat  party and what General Flynn was indicted.

If Milley was “justified in talking as he allegedly did to his CCP counterpart then Flynn’s “contact’ with the Russian ambassador was certainly not “improper”.

I wonder why this hasn’t been widely discussed by the Trump people and Republicans in general.      dlh
