Biden’s First Spending Blowout  

He doubles Obama’s 2009 plan even as the economy is poised to take off in 2021.

Those two Georgia Senate races were more expensive than even we thought. “With interest rates at historic lows, we can not afford inaction,” President-elect Joe Biden declared Thursday night. He wasn’t kidding as he outlined a $1.9 trillion Covid spending plan, which comes on top of the $900 billion Congress appropriated last month, and the $2.9 trillion in the spring. And this is only Mr. Biden’s “first installment,” as Sen. Bernie Sanders put it.

The first point to understand is that this blowout has nothing to do with economic stimulus. Nearly all of the money is for income redistribution—some to people in genuine need, but most to advance long-term Democratic social policies, and to massage constituencies like teachers unions and state politicians.

This may boost short-term consumer demand, which is already poised to explode once the pandemic eases. But it won’t change incentives for growth because people don’t change their behavior unless they expect long-term earnings to change, as John Cogan and John Taylor described Friday on these pages.

More government spending will only help the economy to the extent it ends the pandemic faster and helps people get back to work. Toward that end Mr. Biden proposes $70 billion for vaccines, therapies and testing in addition to the $42 billion that Congress passed last month. This will make a difference if it delivers vaccines faster, though the main bottlenecks now are bureaucratic and political. Ditto for therapies. The Food and Drug Administration restricts access to monoclonal antibodies for hospitalized patients, for example, but local governments have struggled to set up non-hospital infusion sites.

Most of the rest of the Biden plan is a repeat of the 2009 Obama plan—doubled. State and local governments will get $350 billion, though many have more revenue than before the pandemic thanks to buoyant equity and housing markets. State and local non-education employment has fallen 3.7% since February compared to 6.5% for private business.

Schools that stayed closed (and laid off employees) will be rewarded with $130 billion to open—with no guarantees that they will. This is a payoff to unions that have refused to open schools even as most private schools have. Public and historically black colleges will get $35 billion, but nada for private schools.

One of his worst ideas is to raise the $300 weekly federal unemployment benefits enhancement to $400 and extend it through September. Half of unemployed Americans will earn more with the extra $400 than by working, which may help explain why benefit claims this week surged after the $300 fillip was reinstated. Claims plunged last fall after the $300 lapsed. Many businesses say they can’t pay enough to lure employees back until the payments end.

Mr. Biden also wants to raise the minimum wage to a uniform $15 an hour nationwide. It’s hard to imagine a more destructive policy for small businesses struggling to survive, especially in rural areas and mid-America states with lower wage levels than New York City. The strange economic logic seems to be to make it more expensive for businesses to rehire workers while giving those workers less incentive to return to work.

Mr. Biden plans to make it up to minority-owned small businesses with $190 billion in “equitably” distributed loans and grants. But if this is doled out based on race, it could be unconstitutional. The Paycheck Protection Program was a far better, and less political, way to help small business.
He also prescribes another round of transfer payments including $1,400 checks for most Americans, most of whom have jobs. This will cost some $400 billion or so with almost no larger economic benefit.

He also wants to expand the earned-income tax credit for childless adults, a fully refundable $3,000 child tax credit ($3,600 for kids under 6), a larger ObamaCare premium tax credit and a $4,000 child-care tax credit. This is Democratic social policy traveling as temporary Covid relief. Don’t be surprised if the tax credits all become permanent features of the tax code—and a disincentive to earn more at the risk of losing the credits as they phase out.

As a political matter, Mr. Biden’s timing couldn’t be more fortunate. The pandemic damaged the Trump Presidency, and now he is taking office as the vaccines are rolling out and a return to normal life is at least in sight. When the pandemic does ease, the economy is poised to take off without a single dollar more in government spending. Pent-up consumer demand—the savings rate is already double what it was pre-Covid—and the desire to socialize and travel again will lead to a sharp 2021 rebound even if Congress does nothing.

Yet to sell his plan Mr. Biden portrays the pre-Covid economy as some dystopia of haves and have-nots. The truth is that the jobless rate was 3.7%, wages were rising faster for average workers than for the affluent, and black and Hispanic poverty rates hit record lows in 2019. By the way, aggregate private wages and salaries were higher last November than in February as businesses increased wages, including for lower-paying jobs.

His admission (Steele)  that the Russia collusion narrative, later debunked by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, was injected into the public as a means of counteracting Clinton’s email scandal corroborates other information obtained by the CIA.

Late last year, the Trump administration declassified evidence showing the CIA warned President Obama and the FBI that it had intercepted intelligence indicating Hillary Clinton had personally ordered up an operation to “vilify” Trump with a false story of collusion as a means of distracting from the negative publicity of her email scandal.

Multiple investigations have concluded that much of Steele’s dossier was debunked or never corroborated by the FBI and likely contained Russian disinformation planted with his sources.

The probes found the FBI wrongly continued to rely on the allegations of Russia collusion to target Trump campaign figures for investigation and failed to disclose major flaws in their investigations to the courts that had authorized surveillance warrants.

The investigation also found that Steele’s primary source of Russian intel later disowned or distanced himself from the claims attributed to him in the Steele dossier and that U.S. intelligence had concerns the source was tied to Russian intelligence.

The soon-to-be-released records also expose a tantalizing connection between Steele, his primary source and one of the Democrats’ key impeachment witnesses in the Ukraine scandal, former Trump National Security Council Russia expert Fiona Hill.

If you wanted desperately to create major civil unrest and violence in the streets across the nation, how would you go about it?

Nancy Pelosi has the plan…and she advanced it with great enthusiasm, and with the most evil of intent.

Knowing that the president is very popular with a huge majority (in reality) of informed patriotic Americans who has blocked her Party’s quest for power and control over this nation’s vast resources and people, what would you do if you were Nancy?

Few individuals have ever in history had the opportunity to actually accomplish what Pelosi and many members of her political party seek.

Pelosi has enjoyed the efforts of many before her who set out to achieve the goals that she seeks. They’ve worked at it through generations. Many have worked diligently to “transform America”, this one nation founded on unique principles and ideas that has offered hope, peace, opportunity, and prosperity for many who came from impoverished countries all over the world and found true freedom.

Pelosi and those who have come before her to lay the groundwork for America’s “transformation” hope to turn this nation into what is known in modern times, as a ‘socialist/communist “paradise”.

Though it is an idea that has failed miserably wherever tried many of these “transformers” knew that they would never see America fully ‘transformed’ in their life time, but they determined to lay the groundwork so that someone like Pelosi could give it the ‘last shove’ and complete the “fundamental transformation of the United States of America”. Their objective awaited people like her to turn the USA into the ‘state run, socialist utopia’ they dreamed of.

They laid the basis for a corrupt education system, and a media… the two of which, together, produced a significant minority of the population, who are mal-informed, ignorant of the realities of their heritage, and unaware of the elements of sound and democratic government.

In relatively recent years, anti-America tyrants like billionaire George Soros have spent $millions to put in place like-minded little despots as city councilpersons, school board members, city or county prosecutors, secretaries of the various states, university professors and college presidents.

We’ve seen what they are positioned to do. Educate our children to ultimately hate the American ideal, elect prosecutors who refuse to prosecute guilty felons (see today’s San Franciso prosecutor), secretaries of state who are in position to ‘rig’ elections, colleges who graduate radical journalists and incompetent jurists.

And, now, the last stone is to be placed.

A president who represented the last, best hope to prevent the completion of America’s “transformation” (Chuck Schumer: “We’ll change America”) has been removed, humiliated, and discredited…through the crudest use of lies, and political mis-information, censorship, corruption, and base criminality!

All that remains is the promotion and incitement of widespread civil unrest and violence.

And, that’s where Pelosi and her political party come in…and they have planned it well.

There is nothing more cynically calculated to induce national unrest and violence than to deliberately antagonize, humiliate, and insult half the nation! The American people who already saw their champion, Donald Trump, most crudely treated with unnecessary, unwarranted, unrelenting opposition and a final “second” falsely-based “impeachment” is calculated to unleash their fury (in the Middle Ages, Trump would have been publicly executed…something acceptable if not eagerly sought by many of our prominent “progressive” politicians and public personalities).

It is obvious to all but the sadly misinformed, un-informed, and naive, that the purpose of the Democratic Party, led by the worst of its members , is to actually prevent an “orderly” transfer of power, promote civil unrest, and incite violence, in order to establish a ‘police state’… necessary, “you know”, because a “right-wing criminal element” is attempting to “overturn the Biden government and seize power”, dontcha know?!!

Nothing would make Pelosi and her ilk more pleased than ‘blood in the streets on January 20! It is a strategy which has worked many times for brutal tyrants over the ages and in places throughout the world. dlh

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Dark Night…A poem For This Time

As America descends into Communism, I’m reminded of the famous Dylan Thomas poem, “Do not go gentle into that dark night…rage, rage against the dying of the light”

While the poem has nothing to do with the fate of America, its words seem very appropriate for this time.

The “dying of the light” speaks to the death of a dream, an idea…the American ‘idea’ of freedom and how it is attained.This day and the ensuing weeks is the time that the future will say that idea died.

True democracy, a free republic, where opportunity was provided to all in return for their efforts and their hard work was willingly exchanged by a majority of voters and a willful political party eagerly embracing the most evil governing ideology in modern history, for the sake of money and power over a nation’s people.

A serious investigation would prove that false representation of fact and suppression of truth by the majority of the nation’s media outlets, and criminal activity in the election process contributed to the ‘fading of the light”… all had nothing to do with the demise of democracy and freedom in America…or would it?

While an investigation may not prove that machines set up to change votes, false reporting of results and creation of fake ballots determined the outcome of the election, it would satisfy that all of the sworn statements of first hand observation of wrongdoing at vote counting locations was wrong; that all of the analyses of voting patterns by experts was mistaken, that changes to voting processes by other than state legislatures was not illegal, and that the discovery of ballots found long after election day that heavily favored one candidate was not a problem.

It would show that all those indications of candidate popularity…that voters who turned out by the thousands, bad weather notwithstanding, was not relevant to the way the electorate voted.

And, investigation would prove that a majority of the voting population was merely ill-informed, imperceptive, and made a purposely irrational choice in favor of a mentally challenged candidate who did not wage a campaign or give voters an indication of his agenda…who would not even suggest whom his choices for Cabinet posts or Supreme Court Justices would be.

An investigations would surely calm the ‘rage against the dying light’ of a dream that once led, and, inspired the world.       dlh

What would today’s political landscape look like if:

Mainstream-media would’ve given the fake Steele dossier and Mueller “witch hunt” the same scrutiny (demanding evidence of collusion) as they did post-election voter fraud allegations?

Journalists hadn’t damaged their credibility, abandoning long-standing standards/principles to slant every Trump narrative toward the negative?

Authorities had identified, arrested and charged last summer’s violent anti-cop rioters/looters as vigorously and publicly as they’re pursuing those who occupied the Capital?

The Wuhan bat-virus pandemic coverage had been unbiased, exposing Chinese lies and WHO cover-ups, posting progress on ventilators and vaccine development, instead of focusing on out-of-context “drink-bleach” quotes and a running death-count?

Partisan politicians hadn’t wasted January and February (2020) on a partisan impeachment, certainly a distraction as China’s disinformation facilitated COVID-19’s worldwide spread?

The truth is:

After four years of biased “reporting” millions of Americans are convinced the press prints lies. All the time. About Trump, about the election, about everything.

Cable TV anchors, downplaying last summer’s riots by repeatedly calling them “mostly peaceful,” and lenient local prosecutors eschewing charges helped foster this “rioting’s no-big-deal” attitude displayed by those D.C. insurgents.

In a world of partisan “reporting,” truth’s a commodity in short supply; blame’s available by the boatload.

In 1968, President Johnson, watching CBS news lamented, “…if I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost middle America” (and the war).

In 2021 the media has “lost middle America” as surely as LBJ lost Vietnam, yet they don’t appear to care.

At least they still have the coasts.

Liz Cheney’s position on impeachment has soured me on her for all time. I liked her Dad, but she has no redeeming value as far as I’m concerned.

In fact, since, if Trump is convicted in the Senate, I will probably never again vote in an election, because I couldn’t vote for a Republican or a Communist (Democrat).

AOC wants a “commission”…

…but she doesn’t seem interested in a “commission” or a serious investigation of the many documented election irregularities and crimes observed and confirmed by hundreds of sworn affidavits, video evidence and expert analyses.

Our headline meets Shapiro’s standards for truth this morning. Reading his column           The Lies Tearing America Apart at TownHall you will see that he is maybe half right, but about the lies coming from the left.  The column is by no means genius level in perception today.

Read his comments and then indulge ours set forth below.

Ben Shapiro leads with four lies or distortions that he attributes to Trump supporters that are really lies or distortions on his part. For one he suggests that what he refers to as “lies” were just believed by a group of fringe supporters (his first lie) but he must know that those beliefs at least as regards the legitimacy of the vote and constitutional processes to effect them through, Congress if not Pence, are rationally held by the majority of Trump voters and competent legal authority, actually Ben’s betters. His characterizations constitute lies or distortions, in his first paragraph.

The fourth matter which he refers to as “that Trump would remain in office if only some sort of armed rebellion were to prevent the election certification by Congress” is a confabulation by someone who looked at bits and pieces of video or became mesmerized by sensational distorted headlines by, well the lying press.

Where is the testimony of the participants that that is what they were after, Mr Truth and Justice, Mr Fair-Minded Ben Shapiro? The use of the description “some sort of armed rebellion” to describe the event is calumny. The only shot fired was by a cop and apparently indiscriminately. That police / protester altercations occurred is undeniable but by who and whether the worst was by anti Trump provocateurs needs to be investigated before defaming even “the fringe” Mr Objective. We do not know for sure yet what happened to the policeman who died after returning to his precinct, not incapacitated  at the time.

The protesters, mostly peaceful including those who entered the Capitol building  were there indeed to make a statement but few touched any artifact or person and they were not there with force of arms. Stop lying Ben.

We had hoped to have a more erudite posting this day about worthy news items but  events conspired including the time to get us off of any accounts personal or otherwise associated with Twitter and Facebook and root out any others we may have signed up on over the years.  WE ARE TIRED OF  THE BIG TECH CONSPIRACY TO HINDER CONSERVATIVE SPEECH.  We probably have more avenues to check but consider us gone from those two at least.

While we have rarely posted to Facebook or Twitter we have looked at friends posts (particularly Facebook) but will no longer be able to access them.  We kept them in order  to be able to monitor various political users. and enjoyed friends posts of all sorts.

We encourage all our readers to do likewise and  instead consider the social media avenues we have posted in our link categories area at right. The corruption, bias, and privacy assaults Facebook and Twitter purvey can’t be worth staying with those Nazis.

We are weening off of YouTube as well but many of our postings link to content posted there so no change until we get that figured out.  We will endeavor to not link to it in the future and highly recommend switching to conservative friendly alternatives.

Priest Prepares Congregation for Upcoming Biden Years with Dark Homily: ‘We Are in for It, Folks’

“Watch how our hospitals disappear because we will not follow government dictates. Watch how our support of unwed mothers disappears because of constant and unreasonable regulations. Watch as mother church shrinks. Watch how she is treated by this government, this coming administration.

“And those of you who voted for such an administration bear the responsibility of what you have done. Because we are in for it, folks. And they are already getting ready.

“Have you seen the appointees? Some of the most aggressive, anti-Catholic, anti-organized religion leaders in their various states. And this is what we’re in for.”

In his sharp rebuke of Catholic Biden supporters, Kirby, who led one of the daily invocations as guest chaplain for the House of Representatives last January, asked if they somehow missed the lessons learned under Soviet communism, Nazism and similar current regimes like the one in Venezuela.

“If you somehow missed that, how?” he asked. “Have you been living under a rock?”

Kirby even berated church leaders for not taking a stand against Biden, saying, “never forget the spiritual mystics tell us that the pavements of hell are paved with the skulls of bishops.”

Kirby, who has authored several books, is not exactly a nobody priest in the Catholic Church. Last summer, Pope Francis named him a papal Missionary of Mercy, a touted honor in the Catholic religion.

Kirby showed a lot of chutzpah laying out what many of us Christians have been thinking in silence.

We’ve long been irritated by self-identified Catholics like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who — in the name of “gender neutrality” — just recently moved to ban “gendered words” in the House rules and who has been a reliable vote in favor of abortion “rights.”

But now along comes Biden, hailed as only the second Catholic (JFK was the first) to ever grace the White House. According to CNN, he rarely misses Mass. His pal, Delaware Democratic Senator Chris Coons, recently told the outlet that “Joe’s faith isn’t just part of who he is. … It’s foundational to who he is.”

But while Biden is accepting the sacred body of Christ at the altar, his Cabinet is, as Kirby so aptly charged, is looking more like the anti-Christ, at least from the Catholic religion’s point of view.

There’s Ohio Rep. Marcia Fudge, his pick for secretary of Housing and Urban Development. She has lobbied to keep an Obama policy that requires federal government-funded shelters to house people based on their “gender identity,” including by allowing men who identify as women to be housed with women.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, Biden’s pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, has previously filed suit against the pro-life Catholic group Little Sisters of the Poor in an effort to block a policy that would exempt them from the Obamacare contraception mandate, according to Fox News.

“Becerra spent years tormenting the Little Sisters of the Poor in court, trying to force them to pay for things like abortion pills against their consciences. He also led efforts to force pro-life pregnancy resource centers to advertise for abortion,” Ashley McGuire, a senior fellow at the Catholic Association, told Fox.

Meanwhile, Ron Klain, Biden’s White House chief of staff pick, likely wants to use the power of the federal government to crack down on what he derided in a 2019 Washington Post Op-Ed as “fetal rights.”

Biden can of course go the route of his Catholic predecessor, John F. Kennedy, who once declared, “I am not the Catholic candidate for president. I am the Democratic Party’s candidate for president, who happens also to be a Catholic.”

It was a good choice of words for a Catholic politician. Let’s see if Biden copies Kennedy (although Biden might not want to be careful about copying any more politicians).

Father Kirby said it best anyway: “Evil talks about tolerance until it’s in control. … Never forget that the only thing evil needs to succeed is for good people to remain quiet.”
